The Huskies open the year with a re-match of the controversial 2008 game at Husky Stadium.
Returning starters experience is very significant in this
matchup. Washington appears to be a program on the rise
with superstar QB Jake Locker. BYU lost its two top offensive
players, QB Max Hall and RB Harvey Unga, the latter of which
left following an honor code violation. The Cougars will
begin the season with a two-quarterback system made
up of junior Riley Nelson and freshman Jake Heaps.
On paper Washington looks much stronger than the 2008 version, while BYU looks slightly less powerful. Neither team is ranked in the pre-season top 25. Washington has not won on the road in two years, but if they are going to live up to expectations this year they need to start, beginning this Saturday.
