The Tour de France started and in the first stage we have an interesting duel between HTC rider Mattewh Goss and the Lampre experienced sprinter Alexandre Petacchi . The italian rider made some noise this spring by winning a stage in Tour de Turkey and also 1 stage in Giro Di Italy, both stages finished with a little climb on a 3-4% slope exactly like today finish, so i thing the Lampre rider have all it takes to finish better than Mattew Goss even the aussie won Milan-San Remo this year. Petacchi who won the green jersey last year want to rebuild this performance and by doing this he need as much points as he can gets so he will try to finish in top 10 when the peleton will be in compact group ar the finish,also he can try an attack like he didnt in Giro di Italy when he was beaten only by Ventoso.
